The trail is not well maintained and has a lot of loose rock.

Drive up a primitive Sawmill Gulch Road #40411 to park just before it gets steep. The trail takes you past some old mines and up the draw to cross over into Lone Cedar Creek for the final climb to the summit. If you haven't had enough climb, simply turn and climb East up the ridge to Leatherman Peak for a side loop. Otherwise, drop into the valley and follow the headwaters of the West Fork Pahsimeroi River to the parking area at the end of West Fork Pahsimeroi Road #40267.
