Description
Tubbs Hill Summit Trail starts and ends along
Tubbs Hill Main Trail that circles Tubbs Hill. There are also other side trails from
Tubbs Hill Main Trail to Tubbs Hill Summit Trail.
From either end, Tubbs Hill Summit Trail starts off by climbing through the mixed deciduous and pine forest with its thick undergrowth. As the trail climbs, the forest thins and glimpses of the surrounding area emerge. Lake Coeur d'Alene and the city of Coeur d'Alene are below. Once at the Tubbs Hill summit, 2,533 ft., the trail then takes one back down through the woods to
Tubbs Hill Main Trail.
The easiest way to run this trail is north to south. In this direction, there is the least elevation gain. Of course to get back to one's starting point by taking
Tubbs Hill Main Trail, one has to make up the elevation gain on the gentle and scenic
Tubbs Hill Main Trail.
Flora & Fauna
Wooded, primarily conifers but also deciduous trees, lots of tall ponderosa pines. Grasses. Spring and summer wildflowers.
