Overview

The highlight of the route was the descent through alpine meadows to finish the loop.

Need to Know

Download GPS maps of the area or the Trail Run Project mobile app before heading out - the trail is faint, or slightly overgrown for short sections in a couple of areas. Cairns mark the way.

Description

The trail starts a little lackluster with partially overgrown FSR, but quickly opens up to a well established trail through Douglas fir and cedar forest. The views open up around 1,600m, with a look at Jim Kelly peak, and Coquihalla Mountain.

Running the loop CCW, starting toward Coquihalla camp leads to a couple small crater lakes, and then a stunning alpine section through the saddle between Coquihalla and Kim Kelly. The summit push is relatively short, but hazardous with loose rock. Flags and cairns lead the way, but are sometimes hard to spot.
