Starting from the small dirt parking lot next to the restarant area, head east along the road. Soon the road becomes a wide two-track trail and starts to climb amongst farmers' fields. There are several options of trails and roads here that generally climb up the ridge through fields and forest. Follow signs to eventually top out at the Schwalbenwand. Great views southwest over the lake and to the glaciers beyond. It takes a while for the snow to melt out at the top, some fields may be muddy.

For a gentler descent, follow the doubletrack dirt road as it switchbacks down the valley. This makes for a pleasant loop, just give the cows some space so they don't become aggressive. Eventually the trail re-enters the more forested slopes and connects back up with the original trail back to the parking area.
