Starting at the parking lot - this trail climbs along side a small stream at times with a decent waterfall viewing. The trail is steep, rocky and rooty most of the time but some reprieve in flatter meadows with wildflowers. at mile 1.6 you approach the lower lake and a good sized boulder you can climb up on for a stellar view.

To access the upper lake head around the lower lake either direction.
