The trail is accessed via a long, bumpy FS road which is gated following heavy snows.

Need to Know

From downtown Cloudcroft, turn onto NM 130 (south), then left onto FS 24B. Pass Aspen and Black Bear campgrounds. Turn right onto FS 5661. This is a bumpy forest service road, but is negotiable with a passenger car if taken slowly. There is a small amount of parking at the trailhead and a dispersed camping site is across the road from the trailhead for Pumphouse Ridge Trail 3, slightly further east on FS 5661.

Description
