Description
This is a combination multi-use path and sidepath on the left bank of Brays Bayou, primarily concrete but with some asphalt segments. The trail begins just west of the bridge that takes the main
Brays Bayou Greenway over to the right bank. The trail passes through Brays Bayou Park which provides access to Hermann Park to the north and the
Bill Coats Bridge over the bayou.
After several underpasses including Highway 288, the trail rises out of the channel to run along N. MacGregor Way as a wide sidepath. After a connection to the
Columbia Tap Rail Trail and its bridge and an at-grade crossing of Ardmore, the trail moves away from the road but remains on the top of the left bank, passing the
Tierwester Bridge before an at-grade crossing of Scott St. From here the trail is generally well removed from the road but on the top of the bank, ending at Calhoun Rd. A separated trail bridge then connects the end of the trail to the main
Brays Bayou Greenway on the right bank.
This trail provides access from the north, and is an important detour when trail segments on the right bank are closed, with numerous bridges across the bayou.
Flora & Fauna
In 2022 and 2023 a bald eagle was observed wintering around Buffalo Bayou Park.
