Overview
Old Tingri to EBC is 70km, trekkers need to follow Road 218 in 4 days. Although the trail is hard to run, you'll see amazing views on the plateau ranging from 4,400 meters to 5,200 meters above sea level, including bottomless valleys and endless glaciers.
Moreover, you'll have the opportunity to meet unique highland animals such as wild donkeys and bhalar. There are many small Tibetan villages on both sides of the road, so you can understand and experience the original Tibetan life and feel the daily life of the locals without commercialization.
Finally, you'll get up close and personal with the highest mountain in the world and get the most magnificent views.
Need to Know
Old Dingri to Everest base camp hiking is suitable for all people without serious altitude sickness, because all along the road are rural roads, hiking routes are more open and flat, and the journey is safer. The line has long been used by vehicles and horses, if you feel that the road is difficult to walk, you can also contact the vehicle at any time to evacuate.
Description
On the first day, you'll have a 12km test first, from Tingri to Lungchang. En route, you'll pass the Tingri Plain and Rachu Valley. You can see the great valley view with sheep and goats. You can also visit a small monastery in Choelun at the end of the day.
The next day, the challenging trek begins as you enter the mountains. As you climb towards the top of Namla Pass, there is a lot of uphill work to do. When you ascend Namla Pass at 5,150 meters, you'll have a spectacular view of the four highest peaks of the Himalayas in the south, Mount Everest, Mouamlant Lhotse, Mount Makalu, and Mount Zhangzi, as well as Chooyu in the southwest and Shishapangma in the back. On this day you'll trek about 21km and camp in the Namla Valley in the evening.
Leaving Langla Pass, you must descend through steep slopes of verdant vegetation, and on the way you'll meet yak herders. The trail runs through the white walls and deserted fields of Zangpu village. With the land too poor to produce crops, local villages rely largely on animal husbandry for their livelihood. On this day you'll trek 22km.
Here is the last 11km left today, you must be eager to see the final destination, Everest Base Camp. You'll get to Rongbuk Monastery first. It is the highest monastery in the world, located at the foot of Rongbuk Glacier. You can have a great view of Mt. Everest from there.
