Overview
Amazing views up and down the Crested Butte and Cement Creek Valleys.
Description
Start at Camp 4 Coffee in Crested Butte South, head out Cement Creek Road and pick up the Lower Cement Creek Trail, which parallels the road, but offers some respite from the cars and dust. Climb straight up the Middle Cement Creek Trail to the
Walrod Gulch Road, where you head downhill on a loose and rowdy road to the
Walrod Cutoff Trail 418 (Caves Loop). Gird yourself for a long, but steady 5mile climb to the Top of
Point Lookout.
Once at the top, stop and look around, if you haven't already! Now the fun begins! Run down
Trail 405 (Double Top), watch for Elk and stay straight on
Trail 405.2A (aka the Dark Side), turn downhill on Trail 412 (The Wall). Stay upright and hang on!
Head back down Warm Springs, turn right on to Middle Cement Trail and follow Lower Cement Creek Trail back to CB South. Head to Camp 4 Coffee for a well deserved coffee and donut.
Flora & Fauna
Elk, Deer, Birds, various Mushrooms and tons of Wildflowers.
