Eventually, the Halls Bayou Hike and Bike Trail, the Lower Halls Bayou Greenway and this trail will be combined into a single Halls Bayou Greenway.

The upper segment begins about 1/2 mile south of Little York Road on the left bank of Halls Bayou. Very soon after the start, it bridges over to the right bank. The trail continues downstream to an at-grade crossing of Parker Road. Soon after, the trail reaches the Tidwell Park Access where water and restrooms are available during operating hours. The trail then passes under Homestead Road. At the Forest Brook High School Trail intersection, a bike tools station is located.

Just before ending, the trail bridges back over the bayou to the left bank to end at Bretshire Drive.
