Overview

A great loop trail that drops down to the Collegiate Peaks Overlook before climbing back to the trailhead.

Need to Know

Ample parking & restrooms available at Midland TH. Parking at the Collegiate Peaks Overlook below is subject to day use fees.

Runner Notes

Although runnable in either direction, going clockwise makes for a slightly smoother & more enjoyable route.

Description

Starting at the parking area above the Collegiate Peak Overlook on CR304 (Midland TH), head east on the road (CR376a) for ~0.1 mile. The beginning of Django Trail #6033 will be on your right.

Enjoy the downhill-trending singletrack and fantastic views of Mt. Princeton and the Sawatch Range. A few rocky sections will keep you on your toes as you descend towards CR304 and the Collegiate Peaks Overlook. Once you reach CR304 and the end of Django Trail #6033, head straight across to gain Fistful of Dollars #6034. Your downhill is over, and it's now time to begin the climb back to the parking lot.

After the brief connector trail off of CR304, turn right onto Fistful of Dollars #6034 and begin the gradual climb to the top of CR304. This is a popular area for mountain bikers, equestrians, and the occasional burro runner, so stay alert.

A little over a half mile up Fistful of Dollars #6034, you'll pass the junction with Few Dollars More (#6034A). Keep right to stay on Fistful of Dollars #6034. After another half mile, you'll pass another junction with Crank 'n Hammer. Once again, stay right and continue up. In about another half mile, you'll pass one final junction, this time with Camp Elevation South, where you'll continue past on the right.

Be alert as you top out onto CR304, as there can be traffic.

Flora & Fauna

Deer, lizards, mountain lions.
