Description
Great trail if you pass by Saint Maxime on a sunny day. All along the trail, you get spectacular views onto the nearby Mediterranean capes as well as the distant Alps and the Pic du Cap Roux.
The trail starts with a progressive ascent to the Deffend Peak, through the maquis. An orientation table and a 360º view await you at the top. During spring and summer, the path is bordered with beautiful Mediterranean flora. Mimosa and lavender bushes abound.
Once past the peak, the route slowly descends back to the trailhead. As you progress back, you are still gifted with views onto the Alps. Starting 6.60 km/4.1mi, the trail joins a fire access road that eventually becomes a country road. There should be no traffic – but be careful if you're with kids or pets.
The trail is very well marked and easy to follow.
