Overview
Racehorse Falls is a beautiful collection of four waterfalls where Racehorse Creek carves out a narrow canyon on its final approach to the Nooksack Valley.
Description
There is no defined trailhead, but an obvious entrance is the only opening in the woods from the pullout where you park. After 600 yards you'll reach a small clearing with a series of paths veering up and down the hillside. If you wander up the slope along the more primitive paths, you can gain glimpses of the upper falls. The slightly more defined - and steeper - path downhill offers the chance to peer over the middle falls, then descend to the lower waterfall and get an up-close view. In summer the pool below the lower waterfall is a popular swimming spot.
Be careful when approaching the falls because the trail runs parallel to a precipitous ridgeline and fall hazard. Slick mud and moss underfoot can worsen the risk, so be sure to bring good footwear and good judgement. - Additional info by David Kerruish, Outdoor Project
