Description
After about a mile on
Pete's Creek Trail #858, cross Pete's Creek. The trail soon becomes more challenging as it heads up the western flank of Gibson Peak. Cross a large slope and enjoy views of the Humptulips Valley.
At the junction of the
Colonel Bob Trail #851, continue uphill along the trail making quick switchbacks along the wooded west flank of Gibson Peak until you enter the beautiful meadows of Moonlight Flats, the headwaters of Fletcher Canyon. This area would be a lovely campsite for backpackers.
After passing this last water source, the trail climbs up to Quinault Ridge in earnest. Follow the trail to the rocky summit and enjoy the 360-degree views.
Flora & Fauna
Lots of wildflowers in the avalanche paths and when you reach the meadows.
