Description
Start at the trailhead for
High Ridge Nature Trail. You can go left or right to get up the slope, in the GPS track I chose the right side. Pace yourself on this climb. In winter this is the intermediate ski slope! At the top of the hill the route continues north on the
Hurricane Ridge to Swtichback Trail aka Sunrise Ridge, sidehilling the steep slope. This section might make people uncomfortable if they are afraid of heights.
The trail meanders along the ridge with wonderful views in every direction. This is a very popular ski and snowshoe destination in the winter. After one slight climb you'll be afforded a perfect view of
Mount Angeles and the basins around it. The route has you turning around here, but if you are feeling adventurous you can descend and continue on the trail to
Switchback Trail and beyond.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, marmots and all sorts of alpine wildflowers in mid to late summer.
