Overview
This steep and rocky trail follows Burgess Creek. It's one of the most beautiful trails on the lower mountain.
Need to Know
This is a multi-use trail that is frequented by mountain bikers, so be ready for fast-moving downhill traffic.
Runner Notes
Lots of rocks and roots!
Description
Park at the trailhead on Burgess Creek Rd.—it can fill up quickly, so carpool if you can. A quick section of flat terrain quickly turns into some challenging fun as the trail begins to ascend. Unlike some other trails in the area, Creekside is a more rugged singletrack. The trail is ever changing with roots in all directions and multitudes of rocks.
The trail zig-zags across the creek multiple times as it ascends. Towards the top of the trail, it stays above the creek. From the top of the trail, you'll have the option of turning around to continue hiking on
Pioneer Trail, descending Creekside, or taking either
Zig Zag or
Zig Zag Connector. If you're just out for a quick jaunt, we recommend heading back down the way you came.
Flora & Fauna
Wildflowers abound—bluebells, sunflowers, paintbrush, lupine, asters, columbines, and more!
