Overview
A short run through a mixed oak and ponderosa pine forest with views of Coconino Rim.
Runner Notes
Narrow, gravel trail. Would not be the best for trail running.
Description
Start at the parking area along the forest service road. There are bathrooms at the trailhead. A large sign for the Arizona Trail marks the trailhead. There is a fire look out tower that you can climb for better views.
Follow the path to the left under the lookout town and you'll see a sign for the Vishnu Trail. This is a narrow, gravel trail. The trail ends at the midpoint of the Vishnu Overlook Trail. Take a left and follow the trail to the Coconino Rim. There is a barbed wire fence crossing with a gate. At the end there is a bench to site and admire the view. There are scant views of the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
Follow the trail back the way you came. Continue straight past the intersection with the Vishnu Trail. The trail ends at the Arizona Trail. Turn right at the end and it's a short run back to the trailhead. There are interpretive signs along the Arizona Trail to read.
