Description
This pond was put in as a sedimentation pond for a surface mine. The trail begins as a gravel road at the northwestern edge of the parking lot. It goes downhill past a gate and levels off on the dam of the pond. A bridge passes over the concrete spillway between the upper and lower ponds. On the other side of the dam, the trail turns east and continues around the pond. At 0.25 miles, there is a beaver lodge built on the bank. At 0.35 miles there is a view to the west that allows for nice sunset views. At 0.65 miles the trail brings you back to the dam and the gravel road back to the parking lot.
Flora & Fauna
There are numerous birds and insects to be seen. A flock of ducks that prefer the lower pond sometimes visit this upper pond. A family of beavers also live here. There are numerous tree stumps that show their activity and they can sometimes be spotted in the pond.
