Overview

Though this run might not be a bucket-list item, it's more about where it is and what it provides: a day's worth of memories and adventure! The town of Strawberry nearby is the perfect family activity spot for ice cream and a stroll by the river, the run is great for everyone, and the geology is unique. Since this area burned in the 2021 Caldor Fire it is unique in ecology as well.

Description

The forest here burned heavily in 2021, so it now provides a unique running experience. The trail follows mellow meanders between burnt and surviving pine trees. The lessened canopy provides rich views across the valley and at the large granite domes that surround. The sun can be intense, but the river is nearby for the opportunity to swim and cool off.

Another highlight is the significance of Lover's Leap for rock climbing. You may see climbers on the summit or scaling the granite domes across the valley. It's almost like a mini-sized Yosemite without any of the crowds.
