Need to Know
Wilderness is skinny east/west, but miles long north/south. There are multiple access/parking areas along the length of the park. There are trail options on both the east and west side of Salt Creek. Lost of wildlife, especially deer and if you're paying attention, you might spot a bald eagle.
Description
Wildness Park is a heavily wooded park with windy, nontechnical dirt trails meandering north/south along Salt Creek, offering the best trail running in the area, with the opportunity to run longer trail mileage. The trails are nontechnical with essentially no vertical gain.
Flora & Fauna
There are plenty of deer in the park, along with other Nebraska wilderness animals, like racoons, skunks, foxes, coyotes and opossums. There's a chance to spot a bald eagle or two in the trees along the creek. Plenty of ticks in the summer. Watch out for poison ivy if you detour off trail.
