Need to Know
A parking pass must be obtained (at the office), and this park is cashless.
Description
At one time, this trail started from the eastern edge of the parking area. There is a small piece of trail, that descends down towards the river, but is quickly lost in a bamboo forest. It appears that the trail now starts from somewhere behind campsite 9, and enters the woods here. The trail travels for a short distance before passing by a trail, signed as Gravel Pit. It then climbs slightly up to the overlook platform. From here, the trail descends towards the Nature Preserve. This short spur (over the bridge) is the only access to the nature preserve (when the other gates are closed). The trail turns right, following a service road, and travels all the way to Lock and Dam Road.
