Description
The trail begins just off Northshore Road and quickly drops into Cottonwood Pass. After one mile, the wash splits in two directions. While both paths lead to the same destination, take the right fork into the smaller wash.
After another 0.1 miles, follow the well-defined trail out of the wash. Though the main trail continues straight, look for a cairn marking a sharp right turn that takes you near the rim of the wash you just climbed out of. From this point, the trail becomes difficult to follow in places, but cairns mark the way.
Continue south toward Hamblin Mountain. At approximately mile 2.3, you'll encounter a trail turning north out of the wash—this is the east variation that returns to the trailhead. Stay in the wash and continue south. The drainage begins to narrow as you approach the summit ridge, where you'll encounter a short class 2 dryfall. Carefully climb the dryfall, then follow the rocky trail to the summit ridge. The trail meanders southwest toward Hamblin Mountain's summit, offering spectacular views along the way.
