Description
North Prong Spur is found at the 1.8 mile mark along
Yellow Trail in the northeast quadrant of St. Sebastian River State Preserve. To find North Prong Spur, from the
Yellow Trail parking area, head out on
Yellow Trail to a major trail junction after a half mile run. Go right here for 0.15 miles to another junction. At this junction, go right to continue on
Yellow Trail. After another 1.15 miles, go right at the signed junction for North Prong Spur.
North Prong Spur is a flat trail through the grassy central Florida scrubland typical of this area, for most of its length. Saw palmettos and long leaf pines are sprinkled throughout this open terrain. After about 0.5 miles the vegetation becomes denser and lusher as the trail nears North Prong of St. Sebastian River.
After a few hundred more feet, the river comes into view. North Prong Spur ends at a small kayak/canoe dock on the banks of the river.
Flora & Fauna
