Description
Deer Link is a shortcut through the northeast quadrant of St. Sebastion River State Preserve. It begins and ends on
Yellow Trail that travels around the perimeter of this quadrant.
From the
Yellow Trail parking area, head out on
Yellow Trail to a major trail junction after a half mile run. Go right here for 0.15 miles to another junction. Go straight at this junction, to run Deer Link. The trail to the right is the continuation of
Yellow Trail.
Deer Link is a flat trail through the central Florida scrublands typical of this area. Grasses cover the ground, dotted with bushy saw palmettos and tall, stately long leaf pines. The trail is a mix of sand, grasses, and pine needles, with some wet spots in places. This is an open area with views into the distance, of the scrublands. Make sure to bring plenty of water with the hot Florida sun overhead.
After 1.3 miles, Deer Link ends at its other junction with
Yellow Trail. This is at the 2.7 mile mark along
Yellow Trail, on the eastern side of this northeast quadrant of St. Sebastian River State Preserve.
