Description
The trail travels some of County Road 56, then turns left (onto Route 231). The trail turns left (onto Turnpike Road) and follows this to County Road 41. The trail turns right (onto County Road 41), near Stewartville. Follow County Road 41, through Stewartville, and over Route 280. The trail passes through Holman Crossroads and crosses over into Talladega County.
The trail enters the woods, just beyond a road (with a gate). It passes a small campsite (on the left), and continues to Shelton Creek Campsite. It crosses over Goodwater Highway and travels for a small stretch to Rocky Tower Road. The trail descends back to Goodwater Highway and turns right. It turns right onto Trammel Road and follows this to Forest Road 603A. Turn right (onto Forest Road 603A), to the Trammel Trailhead. Section 2 of the
Pinhoti Trail ends here, and section 3 begins.
Flora & Fauna
Flora: Yellow Jessamine, Heart-leaf Ginger, Toadshade, Cherry, Trailing Arbutus, Greenbriar, Pussytoes (Antennaria sp.).
Fauna: Ring-neck Snake, Northern Slimy Salamander, White-banded Fishing Spider, Sharp-crest Elimia.
