Since each river passes over similar bedrock layers as they converge at Three River Junction, each fork contains several beautiful falls close to the junction. This particular falls on the Gregg Fork is about 100 yards upriver from campsite 9D1.

The Gregg Fork next to campsite 9D1 is full of thermal features that create warm spots in the river perfect for relaxation. The other two forks in the Three River Junction area are also full of thermal features.

The plentiful mist thrown up by Iris Falls make beautiful rainbows a frequent part of the view. Flower and wild onions grow on the canyon rim just off the trail.

One of the most enjoyable parts of walking through Kolob canyon is the beautiful contrast between the orange cliffs and the green trees. Ponderosa Pines and other evergreens decorate the canyons, joined on occasion by the odd deciduous tree as well.
